I thought of Flynn during the presidential debates when both candidates talked up the necessity for war in foreign countries, for mandating “sustainable” energy, for demands for a government-controlled health care system, for more farm subsidies, for bailing out the banking industry, despite the voter’s outcry against it. And I thought of him again when the bailouts were passed by Congress because Flynn had written: “Fascism will come at the hands of perfectly authentic Americans who are convinced that the present economic system is washed up and who wish to commit this country to the rule of the bureaucratic state; interfering in the affairs of the states and the cities; taking part in the management of industry and finance and agriculture; assuming the role of a great national banker and investor, borrowing billions every year and spending them on all sorts of projects through which a government can paralyze opposition and command public support; marshaling great armies at crushing costs to support the industry of war which will become our greatest industry; adding global planning under the authority of a centralized government in which the executive will hold all the powers, with Congress reduced to the role of a debating society.”
Fascism did not come to America wearing jack boots and brown shirts. It came respectably-clad in suits and ties and calling itself Republicans or Democrats. The fascism basecoat was laid with each government intervention in the free market, each undeclared and unconstitutional war and every single incursion by the state into private enterprises like banking and auto manufacturing. And both the Republicans and the Democrats were behind it all. As we watched the basecoat dry we continued to allow the incremental creeping toward fascism by electing those who made no secret of their plans to redistribute wealth, make the state the boss of us and dismantle the free enterprise system.
Both John McCain and Barack Obama and elected officials in both parties have consistently supported elements of fascism and they never had to worry they would lose because of it. It was only a matter of how much fascism Americans wanted each election cycle. Elected officials know that as members of the controlling elite that masquerades as two separate and opposing factions, they will not be deposed. The vast majority will be easily re-elected despite their opposition to the majority of Americans on such issues as illegal immigration, border security, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the bailouts. Unless Americans make a determined move to unseat incumbent politicians for these and other assaults against the Constitution, we can expect nothing more than a shallacking by those now controlling our government in both “Big Box” parties.

Een goede reportage over de nefaste evolutie van de Amerikaanse maatschappij naar totalitarisme kan je op YouTube integraal bekijken. "America: from Freedom to Fascism" van Carruso of zoiets. En ook Ron Paul heeft op YouTube tal van interviews staan over het toenemende fascisme in Amerika.

Je reactie bewijst net de inherente misconcepties van dit artikel. De Democraten hebben de Staat doen groeien op socio-economisch vlak. Dat is correct. De Republikeinen hebben hetzelfde gedaan maar dan op vlak van burgerrechten en defensie. Ook dat is grof op de korrel wel juist. Maar ik geloof niet dat third parties het juiste antwoord hierop zijn. Jij haalt Ron Paul terecht aan, en er zijn nog tal van anderen vrijheidslievenden actief binnen de GOP ook. Ik denk dat third parties een klokkenluiderstaak hebben, maar meer ook niet. Libertarisme kan enkel maar heringevoerd worden in Amerika via de traditionele partijen. Ron Paul Republicans zouden onze steun moeten verdienen in plaats van third parties vol extremistisch uitschot die in de grond gewoon poligamie, bestialiteiten en drugs willen legaliseren zonder zich van het grote libertarische ideaal iets aan te trekken. - At 19:25 Anoniem said...

Mooie schets van de LP. Of ze correct is, weet ik niet. Zeker niet meer de laatste jaren met de ruk naar rechts binnen de LP. Dit jaar hadden ze geen puriteinse activisten meer als kandidaten maar conservatieven als BARR en WAR. oké, Jingozian was ook frontrunner en dat is inderdaad zo'n drugs-wacko, maar om op basis van die persoon de ganse partij te bevuilen... Natuurlijk treden third parties in het beste geval op als het geweten van de big two of kunnen ze als spoilers hun stempel op de stembusgang duwen, maar wat bereiken ze daarmee? Ik ben fan van een dualistisch kiessysteem en hoop dan ook dat third parties niet groeien en eerder nog inkrimpen. Het zijn de luizen in de pels van het politieke systeem. - At 19:26 Anoniem said...

Als lezer van deze blog kan ik moeilijk anders dan mij ook een beetje in die zaken inwerken. Plus eerlijk. De bevlogenheid van Vincent en andere vrijdenkers is ergens wel inspirerend. Ik zal het misschien zelf niet meer meemaken als vroege vijftiger maar de generatie van Vincent gaat ons nog versteld doen staan. Nog nooit in de geschiedenis zijn jongeren zo onafhankelijk geïnformeerd en zo compromisloos ideologisch dan vandaag. Wij hadden een hekel aan de politiek toen wij jong waren omdat het allemaal etatisten waren. Wij keken niet buiten België. Vandaag zijn de Belgische politici nog steeds etatisten, maar zijn Ron Paul en Vaclav Klaus de helden van de jeugd. Vincent heeft België niet meer nodig. En dat is maar goed ook.

Goed nieuws dus. Als Vincent geregeld iemand kan 'bekeren', is dat een goede zaak voor de beweging. Uw reacties zijn gelukkig ook van een ander niveau dan die van andere 'volwassenen' die hier graag hun gal spuiten en hun frustraties bot vieren. Ik vrees alleen dat je Vincent en zijn getrouwen niet kan veralgemenen naar de ganse jongerenbevolking. Het gros zit ingekapseld in het syteem en ziet de overheid nog steeds als onfeilbaar. De jeugd is minder geïndoctrineerd dan vroeger, dat is waar, maar de oppervlakkigheid regeert meer dan vroeger. Minder jongeren zijn überhaupt geïnteresseerd in de politiek. Indoctrinatie met kennis is nooit slecht. Dat ontbeert de jeugd vandaag. KENNIS VAN ZAKEN. Iedereen kan wel een theorie of een persoon noemen, maar die echt doorgronden is een ander iets. Ook bij zogenaamde libertariërs of zelfverklaarde intellectuelen als Vincent hier.

Niets, Evelientje. Enkel dat daaruit blijkt dat ook volwassenen in het buitenland GEEN KENNIS VAN ZAKEN hebben. ALle respect voor Vincent, maar dat is geen intellectueel. Een arrogante zelfingenomen populist misschien, maar zeker geen intellectueel. En al helemaaL geen prominent figuur. Who knows that guy?

Voor mij is iemand die in iets gelooft, dat geloof consequent belijdt, de strakke ideologische lijn aanhoudt en voortdurend onderbouwde argumenten aanbrengt om die posities te staven en mensen te overtuigen, wel degelijk een intellectueel. Vincent zal voorlopig nog geen Nobelprijs winnen, of een Pulitzer of wat dan ook, maar dat is op zich geen criterium. Je kan het oneens zijn met wat hij zegt en met de ideologie waarvoor hij staat, maar de persoon beantwoordt wel degelijk aan de objectieve definitie van 'intellectueel'. - At 05:09 Anoniem said...

Interesting, but Europe is much, much closer to fascism than America. Really no comparison. But there are many here who do want to make the USA like Europe, and there are also many of us trying to stop them.
